Washington University alumnus shares Nobel Prize in chemistry
W.E. Moerner, PhD, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry for his role in developing super-resolved fluorescence microscopy. He shares the award with scientists from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Germany. Moerner earned three bachelor's degrees, all with honors, from Washington University in 1975 in electrical engineering, physics and mathematics.

Trek up Pikes Peak bonds football teammates
For a handful of seniors on the Bears football team, the 2014 season unofficially began with a 7,615 foot hike to the summit of Pikes Peak. The nine-hour hike was as much a team-building exercise as personal challenge for the men facing not only a tough football schedule, but MCATs, LSATs, career decisions, and life beyond college and a Division III football program.
