Edison Theatre presents a season of varied and acclaimed public professional performances each year, including the Ovations and Ovations for Young People series. The Performing Arts Department in Arts & Sciences features world-class performances and academics for anyone interested in theater, dance or music. The Department of Music in Arts & Sciences also presents an extensive lineup of public concerts each year including student, faculty and guest performances, in addition to opportunities for students to enrich their education through the study of music.

Literary Arts

Washington University offers a number of opportunities for anyone interested in the literary arts to engage with instructors and other writers on campus. Anyone can apply to be a part of the intensive and energetic Summer Writers Institute and Writing Institute for 9-11th graders. A number of academic departments on campus emphasize the literary arts, including the Department of English in Arts & Sciences and the Center for the Humanities. Current students can also receive help and develop writing skills at the Writing Center.
